Schools

The Yorkshire Waterways Museum encourages visit from schools and promotes widening participation from non typical visitors. School visits will encourage children to make repeat family visits and facilitate family learning and an understanding of the culture and heritage of their ancestors.

An educational CD ROM for Key Stage 2 is available and was produced during 2004. It was funded by YMLAC (Yorkshire Museums, Libraries and Archives Council) to increase school participation and to tie the collection in with the National Curriculum. Please contact us for a free copy of the CD ROM.

Pupils from Thorne

The Museum is currently working with a Goole Primary School on a teacher placement scheme funded by YMLAC. The aim is to increase school participation through outreach work and visits.

Another scheme funded by YMLAC (Creative Minds) has been planned which aims to engage another local Primary School in learning about Bridge Engineering based on the Creative Minds STEM subjects and Inspiring Learning For All.
